Challenge

Synchronizing dynamic shopping cart states across different browser sessions while maintaining real-time server consistency presented a significant state-management hurdle. Additionally, structuring deep multi-to-multi category relationships for dishes threatened database bottlenecks and high API latency.

Solution

We resolved these challenges by utilizing Zustand for persistent client-side state and implementing TanStack Query for highly efficient server-state caching. On the backend, we optimized the Django database engine using select related and prefetch related to consolidate relational queries and eliminate costly N+1 latency.

Complete CRUD Cart & Checkout: Designed a custom backend session-state sync to handle asynchronous orders, cart adjustments, and transaction updates cleanly.

Stateless JWT Security: Implemented a secure authentication flow using SimpleJWT to handle user registration, password changes, and access permissions safely.
