LENS - Library Entry Notation System

Developed for the USTP-CDO Library, LENS provides a full-stack access control solution featuring robust user administration, automated data auditing, and custom report builders. Challenge

During peak hours, traditional paper logbooks created massive entry bottlenecks, suffered from high rates of inaccurate data, and made trend analysis impossible. Library staff lacked the tools to track real-time occupancy, verify student enrollment statuses instantly, or export reliable reports for university stakeholders.

Solution

We engineered a seamless, event-driven platform pairing backend RFID scanner endpoints with a reactive frontend built on Server-Sent Events (SSE) and Redis Pub/Sub. The architecture enforces a sliding 5-minute anti-duplicate window to protect data integrity, backed by PostgreSQL for persistence and Redis for sub-second query caching.

Real-time SSE Dashboard Updates: Implemented a lightweight Server-Sent Events (SSE) pipeline that streams incoming RFID scans directly to the dashboard tables in under 1 second without the overhead of full WebSockets.

Sliding Anti-Duplicate Scan Filter: Built a backend validation mechanism that automatically intercepts duplicate scans from the same student within a sliding 5-minute window to eliminate redundant database writes.

100% Compliant Administrative Audit Trail: Engineered a secure database logger that tracks all admin CRUD operations, IP addresses, and export activities to guarantee comprehensive data security.

Resilient CSV Backup & Restore Engine: Developed high-speed system backup utilities that package database tables into portable, restore-ready CSV schemas in under 5 seconds.
